In battle, you have a spatial layout for each party member and their actions, which is easier to keep track of and understand than the nested menus on the SNES. The DS actually has a sentence describing what each item does. The short names are not very descriptive. The icons are hard to decipher on the SNES unless you already know them. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t improved upon with a second screen.
